GreenHill offers adult, teacher and teen workshops designed to provide a socially charged space that will rejuvenate the spirit and increase understanding of NC art, art materials, and art processes. Led by trained facilitators and/or NC artists, activities unfold in a stress-free setting using art materials and techniques that can easily be enjoyed at all experience levels. You set the pace and enjoy spending time with others who love the opportunity to look at art, make stuff and meet great people. Offering both afternoon and evening sessions, GreenHill’s workshops offer something for everyone. Prices vary. Household Members and above have the opportunity to receive a 10% discount. Must be 18 or older, or accompanied by a paying adult.
Painting Without a Paintbrush

This workshop will guide participants in abstract painting processes as they create works with a variety of colors, textures, and designs all without a paintbrush. Participants will investigate ways to apply paint to the paper to create unique abstract designs. We’ll review basic color theory and experiment with a variety of tools such as found objects, palette knives, sponges, spatulas and natural materials to create three finished works on paper. Participants will learn painting techniques to add more expression, spontaneity and freedom into their work. Bring your own drinks and food. Cost is $35. Space is limited.
Tapestry Loom Weaving Workshop

Learn about the art of weaving by creating your own beautiful woven work of art! Participants will learn the steps to building their own frame loom using a few simple materials. After exploring basic weaving techniques, participants will create their own unique tapestries with a variety of fibers, fabrics and found objects. Bring in a photo as a reference or create an abstract design while experimenting with color, texture and pattern. Completed tapestries will be ready to take home and hang on the wall! Participants are welcome to bring their own drinks and food. Cost is $35 and space is limited.

Participants will learn the versatility of working with an array of two dimensional materials to create a three dimensional piece of art. We will focus on developing a physical manifestation of our inner thoughts. Participants will choose a section of the body to mold with the plaster gauze. After forming this shell, participants will then adorn their sculpture with various types of paper and meaningful memorabilia. Participants are welcome to bring their own drinks and food. Cost is $35 plus $10 material fee and space is limited.
